Lopez Island Sustainability Hub
Shared use community kitchen Survey
LISH Survey Draft 01/08/12
A shared use community kitchen is a commercially licensed food processing facility designed to provide entrepreneurs shared access to professional equipment and facilities (and training) to mitigate the challenges of individually bearing the cost ownership. Also known as “Job Incubators” such facilities include educational, logistical, and financial support to help startup and existing businesses create jobs.
The purpose of the survey is to determine if sufficient interest exists on Lopez Island/in the San Juan County to create a shared use community kitchen, what facilities and equipment are needed, and how people might use such a facility.
This particular web page is a preliminary effort to stimulate thinking about this idea. You don’t have to answer every question. You are welcome to add your own questions/suggestions. Feel free to copy and share it.
If you have any interest in having your own food related business selling food to the public or using commercial grade equipment for your home use please fill out this survey and drop it off at the Vortex Juice Bar and Cafe in Lopez Village. Use one of the copies floating around or print one yourself.
